Our next event, the Memphis Variety BBQ Bash is coming up quickly. This is a charity event benefiting the Variety Club of Memphis. We will be out there cooking on June 3’rd and 4’th. This will be a KCBS event, and we will be entering into all main categories, as well as all ancillary categories. All cooking spots on this event are now filled, however if you want to help us cover the cost of the event and come hang out, please contact us. We also have several categories open in future cooks that we will be doing, so if your interested please let us know. Spots in future events are including things like Goat, Catfish, Hush puppies, Ice Cream, etc. We are definitely looking forward to an interesting year.
Our very own Robyn Medlin Lindars of the GrillGrrrl Blog did an interview with ABC 24 news while she was up here at the Memphis in May Barbecue Cooking Contest. Check out the video, and her blog while your there, for plenty of great recipes. Also congratulations to Robyn for winning the Boys vs Girls grill off at the KCBS tour tent on Saturday.
Thanks to everyone that participated and/or visited with us at Memphis in May this year. We placed 35th out of 113 in ribs. Obviously we would have loved to do better, but are still very proud of our product this year. We hope that everyone had a blast, and are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year. According to myfoxmemphis.com the city convention and visitors bureau has arranged shuttle services between the downtown area and the fairgrounds for those that have their lodging downtown. The shuttle will be free for people with 24 hour wristbands and $5 for everybody else.

Memphis in May has put out an official announcement that the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest has moved to Tiger Lane at The Fairgrounds due to the flooding at Tom Lee Park. The green section of the map below shows Tiger Lane. We are still awaiting the updated official map and site which we will post as soon as they are available. There is also word that they are working on shuttle transportation for those that have booked lodging downtown, so don’t cancel those reservations yet.
